| "Write the vision; make it plain on tablets" - Hab 2:2 |
Every great alumni association is built on people who genuinely care for one another. Welfare is not just about offering support during difficult times. It is about creating a culture where every member feels valued, connected, and appreciated.
If given the opportunity to serve as your Welfare Officer, these are the commitments I will pursue.
I Will Put Members First
The well-being of every member will remain my highest priority. Whether a member is celebrating a joyful occasion or facing a difficult season, I will work to ensure that no one walks alone.
I Will Build a Responsive Welfare System
I will advocate for a welfare structure that is organised, transparent, and fair. Clear guidelines will help ensure that support reaches members who genuinely need it while maintaining accountability and sustainability.
I Will Celebrate Our Milestones Together
Our association should share in life's happiest moments. I will promote a culture of celebrating weddings, childbirth, anniversaries, retirements, birthdays, and other important milestones that strengthen our bond as one family.
I Will Stand with Members During Difficult Times
Illness, bereavement, emergencies, and personal challenges can happen to anyone. I will work with the executive committee and members to coordinate timely visits, messages of encouragement, practical assistance, and emotional support whenever needed.
I Will Strengthen Unity Across All Sets
One of my goals is to foster stronger relationships among all graduating sets. Through regular engagement and inclusive welfare programmes, I want every member to feel a sense of belonging, regardless of when they graduated.
I Will Promote Open Communication
A Welfare Officer should listen before acting. I will maintain regular communication with members to better understand their needs, keep everyone informed about welfare initiatives, and encourage feedback that helps us improve.
I Will Encourage Greater Participation
Our welfare programme will only succeed when members are actively involved. I will encourage wider participation in welfare initiatives and create opportunities for members to contribute their ideas, resources, and time in support of one another.
I Will Promote Peace and Understanding
Differences are inevitable, but division is not. Where appropriate, I will encourage dialogue, mutual respect, and peaceful resolution of minor disagreements before they grow into larger conflicts.
I Will Ensure Transparency and Accountability
Members deserve confidence that welfare contributions are managed responsibly. I will work closely with the Treasurer and the executive committee to ensure that welfare funds are used appropriately, records are properly maintained, and accountability remains a priority.
I Will Respect Every Member's Privacy
Welfare often involves sensitive personal situations. I am committed to handling every case with compassion, confidentiality, and respect for the dignity of every member.
Together, We Can Build a More Caring OSSOSA
I believe a strong alumni association is measured not only by the events it organises but also by the care it shows its members. Together, we can build an association where compassion is demonstrated, support is readily available, and every member feels they truly belong.
This campaign is about service, compassion, and action. With your support, we can strengthen the spirit of togetherness that has always defined the Okota Secondary School Old Students' Association.
